Royal Caribbean International runs the largest ships afloat. Icon of the Seas and the Oasis class carry the surf simulators, the ice rink, the central park with real trees and the ten-storey slide that make the ship the destination rather than the transport, and most Caribbean itineraries now stop at Perfect Day at CocoCay, the line's private island in the Bahamas. Sailings run year-round out of Miami, Port Canaveral, Fort Lauderdale and Galveston, and seasonally from Barcelona, Southampton, Singapore and Sydney.
This card is a fare certificate, and that word matters more than any other on the page. It is applied to the cruise fare on a booking — the price of the stateroom for the people in it — on sailings quoted in USD. It is not onboard credit. Onboard credit is a separate instrument that lands on your SeaPass account and pays for drinks packages, specialty dining, shore excursions, the spa and the shops once you are aboard. A fare certificate never becomes onboard credit, and cannot be spent on the ship.
The timing follows Royal Caribbean's own payment schedule, so the order of operations is fixed: you book first and pay the per-person deposit with something else — the certificate cannot cover the initial deposit — and then apply the certificate against the remaining fare balance any time before final payment, which falls roughly 75 to 90 days before sailing depending on the length of the itinerary, and earlier again on some long or holiday sailings. Applied that way it simply reduces what is owed at final payment.
Three things it does not pay for, stated plainly because the invoice separates them from the fare: taxes, fees and port expenses, which are quoted as their own line and settled with the balance; the automatic daily gratuity charged per guest to the onboard account unless it has been prepaid; and anything bought on board. And it is Royal Caribbean International only — the certificate is not redeemable on Celebrity Cruises or Silversea, even though all three sit under the same parent group. Buying it here needs no account with the line and no identity check: a delivery email, the coin you hold, and the code arrives in about eleven minutes.
