Columbia Sportswear started in 1938 as a Portland hat distributor and now sells weather protection by the technology name: Omni-Heat thermal reflective linings, Omni-Tech waterproof-breathable shells, Omni-Shade sun fabric and Omni-Freeze ZERO cooling. The catalogue behind those labels is broad and unglamorous in the best way — insulated parkas, fleece, rain jackets, snow trousers, hiking and winter boots, PFG fishing shirts, and a deep kids range that gets replaced every growth spurt.
Here is the constraint that decides whether this is the right card: it spends only on the Columbia nameplate. Columbia Sportswear Company also owns SOREL, Mountain Hardwear and prAna, and each of those runs a separate storefront with a separate gift-card programme. A Columbia card will not pay for a SOREL Caribou or a Mountain Hardwear tent. What it does cover is columbia.com plus Columbia's own US retail and outlet stores, where the same code works at the till.
The credit itself behaves like cash on the account: it is applied at the payment step, it works on full price, sale and clearance alike, whatever is left stays on the card for the next order, and anything the card does not cover is settled with a second payment method. There is no expiry and no dormancy or service fee, so a card bought for a September birthday is still whole when the first cold snap arrives.
Buying it here needs no Columbia account, no card on file and no identity check — a delivery email is the only thing we ask for. That also makes it a workable gift from outside the United States, with one caveat worth naming before you pay: columbia.com ships to US addresses, so the person redeeming it needs to be shopping the US store.

columbia.com, which ships to US addresses, and at Columbia's US stores. Columbia's other country sites run their own currencies and their own cards. Buying from abroad as a gift is fine — the recipient just has to be shopping and shipping in the US.What people who actually bought a Columbia Sportswear card have to say.
